African embroidery

Very nice to work on. Good colors and lots of animals shown.

Fun to do; somewhat unrealistic

I really enjoyed doing this and learned some great stitches to add to my repertoire. My main complaint is that it includes some non-African animals such as the toucan (S. America) or the red-headed vulture (India). I don’t mean to gripe too much, but I also found the exact source image for the lizard, and it’s just a generic drawing with no relation to a real African species—I’m guessing the same goes for the snake; I don’t think it would have been hard to redesign it to be more realistic for any of these animals. No comment on any of the plants. I added to the zebra’s stripes to make it a tad more naturalistic.

Patience required!

Very intricate pattern with very small stitches- can only work one or two without eye strain. Interesting never the less.
